TOAF and ELM327
Aha.
According to Wikipedia's description of ELM327: "The ELM327 abstracts the low-level protocol and presents a simple interface that can be called via a UART, typically by a hand-held diagnostic tool or a computer program connected by USB, RS-232, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. New applications include smartphones". I see now WHY Toaf won't work with an ELM327 based interface. Toaf is (presumably) designed to connect DIRECTLY to the OBDII socket, but the ELM327 is constantly getting in the way, trying to interpret the Toaf messages as ELM327 command instructions. ( as described at https://www.elmelectronics.com/wp-co...mand_Table.pdf ) I shall now have to twiddle my thumbs, waiting for the correct cable to arrive, but probably not before the Bournemouth meet. I used this. Soldered the pins and it worked fine with XP. Mines an early diesel. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. |

Think they will both work, 100% will have to solder the pins. Most problems are software related, getting correct driver and COM port.

All VAG-COM 409.1 type cables need the pin 7-8 short to run TOAF.
