What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?

I had the same on a 75 a few years ago, the aux belt removed itself, everything looked fine when I checked the pulleys and tensioner, I refitted the belt and its still on the car to this day?|?

I take it you didn't use the keyhole method of changing then?

Removed the dead power steering pump and stripped it down to find out what went wrong.

The only component I cannot find is the key that sits in the slot holding the pump rotor in place!?



At least Deb has another decoration to hang on the Christmas tree

Nothing with the great motor but just renewed my membership to the club. Lapsed as I was travelling over the last few days. Just happy to be a part of this great club and forum with so many helpful members.

Also found this behind the underbonnet sound deadening on the ZT today, I reckon it’s the same mouse that ate the wiring harness on the lagoon!

Peppermint oil has been ordered, lets see if that deters the little beggars.

Solved weeks of head scratching (not full time). I am slowly putting the ZT-T back together with the replacement engine. The engine was from a ZT-T 190 the same age as mine so I assumed (I know, I know) it was all the same.

As it is several years since I dismantled the engine and I didn't make as many notes or take as many pics as I should have, I have had to guess a few things.

Turns out mine has traction control and the donor didn't.

I couldn't figure out where the cable for the traction control went - but that was because there was no second butterfly on the throttle body of the donor.

I spent some time rummaging through the pile of bits and found the correct body.

I am now getting close to being able to put coolant in.


The new aircon condenser is proving tricky as the fixing brackets aren't the same.

Fitted a refurbished starter motor to the zt courtesy of Artic to solve the click click hopefully start sometime caused by a failing solenoid. Nice easy job for an hour.

Yesterday changed the front pads on the 75 looked at the rears o/s piston seized solid so no point changing the pads , source a new one and job for next weekend, just have to drive the zt next week

Chucked a bucket of water over both too

Took the Great Alfredo for his morning walk a couple of hours earlier today, then headed south to Peterlee to replace a flooded ECM on a 75, a journey plagued by road closures and dreadful diversions, and what about this for annoying, front ABS sensor failure after you've just given away an ABS sensor

Then on to Manby where a cup of coffee awaited me along with this.



After a quick catch up, I then headed to somewhere near Retford to have the screen fitted, then after an hour or so sitting in a McDonalds over a couple of coffees, the adhesive was cured sufficiently for a leisurely drive home.

Mmm Madras for tea



So tomorrow will be spent refitting the trim, hoovering the last stray bits of glass, and fitting a new OSF ABS sensor

All in all if the satnav was to be believed, just shy of 400 miles, seven hours driven, four of which were exceeding uncomfortably spent with the temporary "window" flapping away behind me


So a huge thanks to Lincs Dave for his invaluable assistance in both sourcing a new backlight, and someone willing to fit it on a Sunday afternoon
