What are your thoughts on this, the ones that were originally fitted or the BMW ones, and are they fit and forget other than cleaning out on the odd occasion,

Hi Jules, I got mine from LR Trade Parts pn 11127799367. Can buy direct or from them also on E-bay £14. A little care needs to be taken installing as some how-tos here suggest disconnecting small pipes to T piece for access. Don’t meddle with or disconnect these pipes as they can easily break. Take your time, what’s the rush. Best of luck .

Hi Julian. When I change my pcv filter, all you need do to get better access to the filter is just push the little clips in to release the plastic connectors to the ‘overflow’ pipe. All I have ever done is change it about every second service, and I have kept the old ‘cotton reel’, the original one, and I just soak it in white spirit and give it a bit of a wash then dry it out and use it the next time. No problems with mine so far at 97000 miles.
