That's a very good idea Prof !!
Think it would be possible on the tourer to get at the pipes. from behind the wheel arch liner . The saloon is a 5 min job .

I looked at this and yes possible but then you still have to get the tube back in and fixed right if not you have wasted your time good luck for those whom try it though. Arctic

Good points; I have done the front ones properly according to your excellent pics. Not sure I am ready for a mega destruction to get the back ones sorted so I may attempt an external approach to them. It may well fail and then I will admit defeat and do it properly. Again I must thank you for your advise and pictures. I am sleeping and driving more securely now I am at least 50% sure I am not doing to drown inside!! |

Just a word of caution when doing the front drain, be very carefull that you don't upset the wires going into the inertia switch. To be on the safe side give it a good squeeze when your finished to make sure the connections are nice and tight....... Found out the hard way when mine was cutting out every now and again for 2 weeks before discovering I had done it

OK well after driving in biblical rain none has breached the front! Nice one Arctic for your superb photo guidance. I will have a go at the rears next dry spell first from the outside I think as they are fitted vertically from the photos then they are less likely to be breached if the tips are clear. Happy now thanks chaps!

When I used to retrofit sunroofs one piece of clear piping was used from each corner of the sunroof to its exit point,we NEVER had a car back for water ingress.
Once the headlining is removed its quite easy to replace them. |

Hi Dom. Very similar to these if not the same found them at £5.95 for ten but still have to make sure they are a tight fit but will not be taking mine out again to check thats for sure will wait until i can check on a local members sunroof tube in the boot should be ok though at 16mm also traced how the water over time drips from the joint due to being blocked with gunge drips on to the rubber bulk head mating and over time could years follows down is soaked up by the carpet foam untill it can take no more then shows its self in a pool in the foot well, it also sloshes about up and under the rubber mat Arctic. PS These do not fit so do not purchase

Well was reading this with interest last week and had it down on my to-do list.
Come Sunday (08/07/12), after another night of incessant rain, got into the V8 to go shopping, and my wife noticed the squelch underfoot. Passenger side completely water-logged! Think it must've been happening for a while as since I've owned the ZT-T, (about six months), have noticed that the windows steam up far more readily than my 75 in wet weather. Just a couple of questions; Arctic did you cut off the ends of the one way valves at the end of the wheel well drain tubes? Has anyone got away with not stripping the interior? I don't mind having a go at the tube union mod, but don't have the space under cover to dry out the carpets and store the seats, console, Sat-Nav etc, etc. If it's a negative to the later, then I'll have to hand the job of stripping and drying out over to my trusted garage as they have the space and time to do this. Finally, thanks Arctic for a really explicit and in-depth post, these things make a lot of difference to us types who are keen to do, but unsure of how to. Eugene. |

Oh dear; well its most likely the front ones and the easiest one to get at is the passenger one as you can see from Arctic's excellent photos. The rears actually are in a vertical position so (in my view) less likely to block. The horizontal entry push fits in the front are extremely stupid; I sealed mine with an acid free gutter silicone. Given you have been getting steamy then I guess there is water inside (I was VERY lucky on this). Whether you can try wicking it up with loads of newspapers is perhaps doubtful. I had been musing about trying to create an inspection hatch but not done so yet. If you can at least get your hand under the front carpet you could see if there is much water??
