Default What sized winter tyres / wheels were approved for the ZT in Europe?

just wondered what the european handbook says for winter wheels / tyres for those overseas running ZT's on 225/45/18 in the summer??

Many thanks

Not sure that Winter Tyres were as popular over 10 years ago!

Having said that, you can get Winter Tyres in 225/45X18 anyway!

Probably still a legal requirement in Germany for example
I know that there are MG approved winter tyre sizes for the F and TF in Europe

Maybe narrower 17s are better than the 225 18's hence my question in this part of the forum

True, but if you have a 190 or 260, you still need 18" wheels to clear the front brakes!

But as only 120's left the factory with anything other than 18" wheels, it's unlikely that MGR would recommend anything other than the standard size!

Actually quite possible it have different tyres to the normal 225/45
They recommend TF winter tyres are a different size in width and profile to summer tyres
I thought 17" were options on other Zt as well? Based on the brochure I was looking at last night

Tyre sizes, whether summer, winter or all-season, are the same as stated for the size of the rim that's on the car.

So if you have 18" alloys the tyre will be 225/45/18 regardless of being summer, winter or otherwise.

Remember that tyre size is linked to rim size and not the season we're happening to be in

Well, I've just checked with one of my contacts in Germany with a MG TF.
MG Germany on the rear approve 215/40/16 for normal summer tyres
For winter you can use the same size but also approved for the rear for winter TF tyres in Germany is 195/45/16 (which are the same as fitted to the front of the TF)

I knew that they used different sized rear winter tyres which is what prompted my question and hence this thread as I wondered if it was the same for some of our European ZT owners.

Looking forward to some feedback from German etc ZT owners

Road legal on genuine MG wheels in Germany:

All ZT and ZT-T with Standard brake -
Front and rear 225/45R17
Front and rear 215/50R17
Front and rear 225/45R18

All ZT and ZT-T with big brake (190 + 260)
Front and rear only 225/45R18

Thats for all tires, Winter, Summer and All Season.

PS:
Road legal on all MGF and MG TF in Germany:
Summer and Winter tires:
Front and rear 195/45R16 or
Front and rear 215/40R16 or
Front 195/45R16 rear 215/40R16 or

Front 185/55R15 rear 205/50R15 (not TF 160 and TF 135 with big AP brake)

All MGF and TF with standard brake can use 175/70R14 on steel wheels - but only Winter tires !
