An update
Air con man came out, could not find a leak. He did both a positive and negative pressure test and pressure remained good. Checked with a dye and still nothing seen Could have been one of those things that in time the gas needs replacing but I doubt it. anyway he re-gassed it Will have to monitor it and see what happens. macafee2 |

what is wrong with your air con? If you can wait a few weeks it may be an idea, let me use my car a bit more and see what happens. In case I do not come back to this thread, PM me in a week or so to see how I am getting on. macafee2 |

My air con is not blowing out cool air anymore. I have had it regassed several times, the last being early this year- in preparation for the warm summer weather. I have operated the air con for ten minutes or so every time I’ve taken the car out. It’s worked well until the heatwave. When the weather changed to cooler temperatures ( I did not expect it to work well cooling the higher temperatures we had ) the air con had given up. I’ve not had much chance to check it out thoroughly yet, but I’ve read through the comments in your thread and will check the compressor.
The air con has been regassed yearly with dye being added and no leaks condenser has been replaced. I will watch with interest to see how your problem works out. Nigel |

Checked compressor by turning the centre by hand (before I started the engine!) . Centre turned. Then placed a length of red electrical tape over the centre. Started engine, used torch, tape not moving.
Turned on demist, tape moving round. Turned off demist, tape not moving. I think this shows the compressor to be okay. Viewed compressor from top with torch. That’s an idea from SD1too. Thanks Simon Nigel |

Hi Nigel. At the same time you took out those quick tests did you also make sure that the cooling fan behind the front grill was running when the demist button was pressed, if not then the low speed would not be working, this works in conjunction with the A/C It helps to give you the cool air, at the same time can you see a silver resistor at about 2.0 Oclock through the front grill or not. 1 2
