1.8T coolant temp ???
the guy i bought the ZT off had a load of work done at a rover specialist, head skim and gasket plus a refresh on the coolant system. its running at 80-85 degrees round town and on the motorway. creeps up to around 95 after idling for a while. seams a bit cool to me ? my last 1.8 sat around 90-95.
does the turbo run a bit cooler ? or have they fitted the wrong thermostat |

Does your 1.8T have a Pressure Relief Thermostat (PRT) Tony?

The reading is dependent the coolant temperature sensor and it's not unheard of for it to not be giving a correct reading.
If you have or can get hold of an original spare or replacement you could try it to see if that makes any difference Russ

yeah possibly Russ, but i think its been fitted with the wrong temp thermostat as I said my last 1.8 was the same till I fitted the right one and It then read 90-95c but as we are having an heatwave i think i'll leave it for now

A heatwave shouldn't make any difference to running temperature other than the engine reaching it in a shorter time. If it was my car I would be removing the thermostat and checking its operation in a pan of water with a thermometer in it. Simon
