Hi , I just done mine and tried all the short cuts to no avail .. I still only got heat on drivers side 🤔 What I done was ,with the car cold I clamped off the intake and outake hoses With cardboard and vice grips not to damage hoses . Take of panel in footwell . Get a bin liner bag took it in under the heater blower , take some pics on your phone for reassemble. Get a small pot and undo the pipes . Rock gently the matrix up and down till it can slide out. I cleaned mine out with boiling water and lime scale cleaner . With my garden tap flushed both ways A mountain of gunk came out . It was the original one from the factory. Refit all of the above ,poured back in what came out .be gentle when connecting the pipes . Mine is like Spain inside now 😇 No mess just heat . Do this at your own risk .!!!!!! A little sad update on this thread lol, as some of you know, about half a year - a year ago I replaced my thermostat plus inlet gaskets and everything was fine up until this month when the car started to lose coolant again. Now it's come to the point where I put in about 1.5 liters just to get it to level in about 1-2 weeks
I think it's the inlet gasket that's leaking coolant in the combustion chamber, I found a really small amount of coolant in the V of the engine which points out to this. Also, the thermostat itself along with the 2 pipes don't seem to leak at all. Another sympton is that the exhaust blows a rather small amount of white smoke even after long times of running, and if I hold my hand right against the exhaust pipes' holes, it takes about 10 seconds and my palm is wet, like when you hold your hand above hot steam and it condenses on your palm... This is really frustrating at the least knowing I replaced everything and now it's causing problems again.. |
