Default ZTT CDTI hesitaion until turbo kicks in

Hi hope someone can help.

I have done a quick search but other posts with same problems seem to be petrol so parts don't apply to my diesel.

I was on holiday the other month and needed a new battery.
I fitted the new battery but ever since the car has got a flat spot / hesitation between 1 and 2000 revs until the turbo kicks in then it boosts and away it goes.

I've unplugged the maf sensor and it made no difference so ive plugged it back in.

I've checked the fuel pump fuse in the glove box and under the bonnet but both are fine.

Any ideas car runs fine otherwise but when I want to pull out at a junction or roundabout there is now power which can be quite dangerous.

Car is a 53 plate ZTT diesel with a 160 upgrade and EGR bypass.
Car ran perfectly before and does so once revs are up.
