03 1.8 petrol wont start
Hi there
I have got a 75 conis experiencing starting problems all lights and instruments working fine but i noticed a high pitched wine from around the injector housing wich goes when you unplug the right hand plug at the front of the unit any ideas what this could be? The fabled fuel filter syndrome Cheers Roggy 75 Last edited by roggy75; 9th March 2009 at 19:09.. Reason: found info on forum |

It sounds like it, well worth checking and ruling out anyway.

More info about the car please? Year? engine type and size etc.
Does the engine turn over? Has this been slowly coming on or is it a sudden thing? . |

It says in the thread title, 03 1.8. Good point about the battery though. Does it crank over as normal?

Battery is fine and engine turns over fine
This is a sudden problem without any other issues before hand |

I does sound like Fuel Filter Syndrome (FFS), for which the proper cure is the Fabled Orange Clip (FOC), rather than a self-tapping screw as suggested in the old How To.
These may help you to determine what's up. Rear seat cushion removel: Servicing the fuel filter: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=9108 |

Did it have the Orange Clip already fitted? If not, putting it all back together doesn't exclude the problem 'cos the filter unscrews as you replace it. The Orange Clip is an essential item on any petrol engine showing starting problems. It's really not worth going into the tank and not fitting it. I can't guarentee it will solve all cases of non-starting, but it will eliminate the single biggest cause.
