Hi Ron,
Having taken your battery inside, leave it on charge for 24 hours. I think the voltage you've quoted was during charging wasn't it? After the 24 hours, disconnect the charger and give it a try back in the car. Simon

When my battery packed up, I charged it up to 13.4 volts. Took it off charge, and then put my meter on it, and watched the reading slowly going down to finish at 10.8 volts. At that point I knew a cell had gone awol. New battery fixed it.

Leave it off the charger a couple of hours before you check it.
If it's then 12.5 volts or over it's not the battery that's at fault.--- |

Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Numpty of the decade goes to...........................................ME Note to self, when refitting battery, make sure the earth lead is properly fitted to the battery post Brian checked voltage from everywhere, battery 12 -13v, then removed, cleaned, refitted leads " properly" car started immediately. So big thanks to him and to everyone else who contributed Without this place there would be far fewer 75/ZT's on the road. |

Well if nothing else it was a run out to the seaside in the Mini, and to be fair to Ronnie it wasn't immediately apparent what was the problem, but at least I got it going before the kettle boiled
So time to treat yourself, a one of THESE and a smear of Vaseline. Think yourself lucky though, the next job was more complex, and some different dealer options to choose from.. Brian |
