Default Front top mounts

Just wondering if there were any more reasonable alternatives to these please?

The 75 do up is eating me out of house and home.

There are loads on e bay to choose from. Don't worry about the fact that they mention the engine size in the adverts as the same part fits all. Got mine for £17 each a few months ago. Free postage too.

Just had another look at your picture and realised it was the bearings I bought, not the mounting. Oops!

Yep. Unfortunately the top mounts (plates) are completely seized on to the front struts. Bearings would probably go again, but having changed everything else, these will be done too.

Best of British used to have some, may be worth a call, certainly won't be Rimmers prices

Must admit I don't buy anything cheap off e-bay any more if it has rubber in it, as it seems generally to be of poor quality and degrades quickly ending up with the job having to be re-done.

Funnily enough have never changed my strut top mounts in 11 years and 313k miles of motoring. They are still silent with no play, but might do them this summer anyway - they can't last forever.

The cheap e-bay droplinks need replacing again after about a year as the rubber balljoint covers have perished and split. So seeing as I work outside on the drive might do the lot in the warmth of summer - if it gets here!

I mentioned these in another thread, seem good deal and worth doing everything at the same time.

You're welcome Ben, thought they might still have some.

As they say every little helps

I changed mine just because i had the struts off. Changed wishbones, shocks, springs and strut mounts.. Massive difference, the steering was a lot lighter with the new mount and bearing and the front of the car raised by 2 inches with the new springs. No more bouncing front end with shocks that work too. Drives like new now.
