Thanks for helping Dave, very much appreciated.
I've read so many threads regarding same locking/alarm problem, but never a fix at the end of them. Could it be the BCU at fault? |

Hold on....
Just seen that you have 2 simultaneous faluts, this and the boot lock... Put the two together and I think your BCU is the issue.... uncouple the battery, pop the plug on the bcu and look for corrosion. then use a meter to check continuity of every fuse in the passenger foot well

I've had an intermittent issue with beep beep/fob and the boot lock, more often than not when it's cold/near freezing and the lock will not latch closed i.e. the boot lock/latch remains in the 'open' phase. As you are having this problem in July it's clearly not the same issue but I've always manage to fix it by operating the central locking (off the fob) whilst the boot is up/open (so the latch cannot engage) and when locking is operated the lock seems to re-set itself - you can hear it sorting itself out.
Mine is a Mk2 so no boot key and 'remote opening option' is enabled off the fob. Worth a try…. |

I see member 'beinet1' has mentioned a few things he had checked... 1. Replaced key fob batteries. Done. 2. Did a battery reset. Done, solves problem until you start the car. 3. Replaced the BCU. Not done, Klarzy also mentioned the BCU. 4. BCU Fuse. What number is the BCU fuse? 5. K-bus system. Where is the K-Bus? 6. K-bus connectors. Where are these located, meant to be below the carpet in the footwells? What do they look like? 7. EWS immobiliser. What is it, and where is it? The car has two issues, not sure if they are related to one another or not. Issue 1: Cant lock doors with keyfob, just get the alarm beep each time. Issue 2: Interior boot button does not work, no operation trigger sound, nothing. The boot release trigger sensor that activates the door open light on the dash works, as the icon and the boot light, and interior light both light up (and go out when boot is opened/closed). After a 30min battery reset the keyfob locks all doors perfectly fine, but when you switch ignition on, the problem returns. BUT! The boot release still does not work, even with the battery reset. It sounds as though the problem is with the boot release, as the brain of the car senses something is wrong as it keeps returning the error each time I perform the 30min battery reset. What is puzzling... is the boot interior light, and the dash door open light works fine everytime you open/close the boot. Is there two separate issues, or are both related? Could it be the BCU, or the EWS, or the K-Bus connectors. The car has a sunroof, and the carpets are wet, I have just fixed the leak, but cant find the K-Bus connectors, they could be corroded Any help fellas will be gratefully received. Quote:

when I got the car I had this problem, and found beneits thread too. I cannot remember the fuse number, but it was a brown one (7.5 amp?)
to elaborate further, the battery reset worked on mine only until like you, it came to starting the car, it reverted. I wish I could remember the fuse number, but I did go through the fuses to find the blown one. once replaced it has been fine ever since.
