Default R75 1.8T immobiliser or fuel pump problems

Hi,

I parked the car diagonally with the front wheels on the pavement, and after an hour or so when I came back I was unable to start the engine.
The battery is in good condition, all the lamps on the dashboard light as usually when I turn the key; however the engine doesn't start. The spark plugs are OK, so it's not a problem of ignition but of fuel supply from the fuel pump - there is no fuel being supplied though the tank is half full. I assume that the pump may not supply fuel if the immobiliser gets activated, or when its damaged. Perhaps it's a fuse or a relay, but I don't have an electric circuit scheme. I would like to know which fuse and relay are responsible for the pump.
Or maybe it's something different, like a dirty fuel filter?

Any help is most welcome and will be cordially appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Waldek

Good chance it's the in-tank fuel filter/module thats come apart slightly.

Unless you have the Orange Clip fitted on it, I'd start there.

There's a How To somewhere.

Thanks. Sorry for my ignorance.
I know that the fuel pump is under the back seat (right side), but where is this "in-tank" fuel fulter/module that came apart slightly? Can I fix it myself or do I need to go to a garage to have the car lifted up?

Filter module is on the nsr, clip is important but not necessary to get you up and running pronto. But that said fit asap.

Default The orange clip....

Hi,

Thanks everyone for your help. I towed her home and I'm planning to fix the filter problem myself because I don't trust that any garage here (Poland) will do the job, as the car was servised 2 months ago and they didn't replace the fuel filter (I wonder what other filters they didn't replace!). I'm not plannig to translate the two post I read in the forum "how to" - one very detailed, actually a step-by-step instruction, by T-Cut (and the other titled "Petrol fuel system failure".

It seems I need a tool to remove the locking ring, which in the posts on the "how to" forum were self made tools. I have I few questions:

1. Can I buy the tool somewhere (maybe it's used for BWM cars ?), and if not what is its diameter, bacuase to me, the easiest was is to shape (bend by force) a piece of metal rather than weld.

2. I haven't quite understood the orange clip problem - do I have it or not (car made in 2004) ? If not where can I buy it.

3. I will most probably need new rubber O-rings, and a sealing ring - what other parts should I replace to have the problem solved?

4. Can any BMW parts, apart from the rubber sealing ring, be used as replacements?

5. Last - just to understand the nature of the problem, what role does the orange clip play from the technical point of view? Does it prevent the filter case from popping up?

Thanks and regards,

Waldek

ps
is there any listing what parts should be replaced at a given milage? I used "search" but without luck

There is a tool, but a small piece of wood and a gental tap with a hammer does the job equally well
