How long to build a 75 / ZT?
Academic really, but, the test sequence on the instrument panel shows that my ZTT was built Wk 9/05, however I am finding labels on various items that are dated 23 March 2005 - which by my calculations is a bit later than Wk 9/05. Not a problem really, just thought that they were on the line for only a couple of days!!!

My CDTi shows a date of 40/04 on the IPK and I have found stickers on bits of trim dated late Jan 05.
I think the IPK date needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

The dates on the various Parts are the Manufacturer date of part.
So you will have some newer and some older parts within your vehicle. You will notice that the dates are not massive months apart, this was to keep stock holding to a minimum. Of course the current '07 registrations will still have 2004/5 on their parts. Any parts replaced on PDI would have the date replacement part made rather than build date of course. Could it have something to do with MGR having some difficulty with parts suppliers at the time and the car might well have been standing around for a while needing something to complete it

Not Longbridge I know, but I visited Dagenham around 20 years ago, in the days when they were building Mk 2 Fiestas, Sierras and Sapphires. We were shown the Diesel engine plant, press plant, trimming and the transfer bridge from the body in white plant through to the assembly tracks where the completed cars were assembled and fitted out.
The question was asked as to how long it took for the car build. We were told that from the jigging and welding of the panels for the body shells through painting and trimming to drive off the end of the line was iirc around 48 hours (then). That said, the cars were actually coming off the line every few minutes. |

the date the dash gives on the dig dispaly is the date the dash its self was made (of software uploaded to it )not the car ! then add storage , shipping more storage etc on top
mine read 06 in a o3 car as i changed my dash

I've found this very interesting... having been in the aircraft industry I am familiar with the 'Just In Time' technique of Spares ordering and Supply. I have seen 5 components with the same date on the label, which I think must be just about the last date of build, being lamp assys etc. so I'll go for mine being built in the last week of March 2005, incidently it was purchased 'new' by me on 18 March 2006, I can't find out where it was stored but a Google Earth look at Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire shows that it could have been there!
