Default Boot Badge Removal

I've finally got around to ordering a replacement boot badge, the one that fades (see pic).

My question is how best to remove this badge without damaging the surrounding chrome? From memory there is a dimple on one side to ease the badge out but I envisage damage if this is done with a screwdriver, I'm guessing this is pretty well stuck in place from new

If they are like all the other badges it will be stuck on with an adhesive backing. Using a plastic tool (no sniggering in the back row) and a hair dryer, warm the badge and gently ease the plastic tool behind the badge. As the adhesive warms the badge will come away from the surround. Alternativley, drill a hole through the centre of the badge, stop before the metal, insert a small allen key, heat and pull.

No doubt someone is going to tell me the are bolted on now.

Yes I drilled mine 1st, then heated, then pulled off with a hooked tool from centre. Don't lever off from side with a screwdriver you will damage paint.

Thanks for all the advise. As regards the MK1 handle hmmm it's on my list but have spent quite a few pennies on the walnut dash, steering wheel, walnut gear knob & mud flaps just recently. Also in my sights is a single din DVD/GPS etc. a cherished number plate & new smile plate plus I'm booked into Lates in October for full service, T4 & aircon check. AND I'm considering powerfold mirrors.

So £10 for new badge seemed cheapest option to brighten things up

Boot badge arrived from Rimmer Bros within 24 hours which is very good, cost £14 with P & P which is an absolute obscene amount of money for what it is !!!

Fitting was dead easy, slipped thin piece if plastic in the small gap & it more ore less fell away the glue was drying up.

Looks great now so pleased.

By the way I saw one of these on eBay at the moment going for £25 and the auction not finished yet, seller stating very rare Try Rimmer Bros. if you're after one stock does not appear to be an issue.
