Handbrake problem
Anybody help me with this problem?
Handbrake fully on and the car starts rolling down the street, not a steep gradient by any means and i,m chasing the car down the street, a proper Laurel and Hardy moment but very scary nontheless. All rear brakes were replaced 8 mths ago and its not losing brake fluid. Any suggestions please experts? |

Has your handbrake compensator been changed? If not, have a look at this thread: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=95772

Get the compensator checked it may have stretched, mine was 13mm before I had the Artic compensator fitted now I have a solid 5 click handbrake.

Loss of fluid would not affect rhe handbrake as it is purely mechanical. When you say the rear brakes were replaced are you refering to the pads, as the handbrake works on mini shoes inside the disc, and if not in good condition and adjusted right then your handbrake wont work very well.

Handbrake shoes/drums are also prone to rust, apply h/brake just before you stop or move car back and forth with h/brake ON to clear, not guaranteed but often effective if you don't also have excessive handbrake movement to apply it.
