You may have seen it on BBC news, IMO the bus is going way too fast.
I know that road well (Frogston Road West) and driven buses along it many times over 25 years as a bus driver in Edinburgh. Difficult to see how is was going too fast as it's driving up hill, a long hill starting on a bend at the foot.

They showed this on the News the other night - I think the bus driver did an amazing job to avoid a car on the wrong side of the road.

most of the RTC's, Road Traffic Collisions could have been avoided if drivers were going slower. A good number of cars like mine, are not fitted with winter tyres another opportunity to improve the chances of avoiding an RTC. Distance to the car in front, leave a bigger gap. Breaking, break sooner and more gently.

There will be times when conditions will over power drivers, tyres and safety systems but so many times the outcome is in our hands.

I've decided not to use the car today because of other drivers.

If you do venture out, please be careful

Well having spent 2 days completely cut off from the outside world we've just managed to get to the nearest town in a friends XC70. The snow has drifted a lot here so in some places the fields are almost clear and then in others we have 8ft of snow!

Always remember what my Grandmother used to say if the weather went weird, "I blame all them Sputniks up there"!

M90, Edinburgh bound late evening and between snow showers. Should be two lanes and a hard shoulder here.

I personally wouldn't consider them insurmountable. As previous posts suggest it is not the amount of snow (one keeps on top usually) it is the loss of grip/traction when compacted and icy. Once one or two drivers hit that problem, that is when one gets tail-backs (hence your photo).

It's our postie's fault for wearing shorts all year round. On the point of accidents, is there such a thing? There is usually a cause, making it no accident.

I guess it's an accident if you, personally, haven't added to it. Like a branch dropping off a tree onto your head.-------------------
