How about auto jumbles? Does this mean the end of them?
Relying on your local breaker to have just what you want us just not viable. Assuming of course they will still be allowed to operate?

That’s because the rule makers drive cars provided by the state, they have never had the enjoyment of autojumbles and tinkering with vehicles.

I don't know if it has been in any of the magazines, as I stopped buying them ages ago.

Regarding who to get on your / our side; possibly Goodwood or Beaulieu venues, might both have Lords, with a vested interest.
Also, a long shot might be to offer the new GBNews an interview, or an item for their regional reporters (Sussex & Hants., respectively)
Haven't seen anything yet in any trade magazines. We only found out due to the actions of ebay the other week.

(however, didnt they try this with the sale of second-hand furniture - not supposedly allowed without a certificate of fire-proof-ness, yet sales seem to continue online nevertheless!!)

I wonder if this is to stop the trade in stolen cars being broken down and sold off as spare parts?

If you read the link in post 16, it would appear that environmental issues are the primary motivation behind this.

Steve's comments (post 17) are also something to take seriously.

The sale of used spares might just be an unintended consequence, although that is probably open to debate.

If it is / was unintended, then it lends hope to any opposition, which clearly now must be organised.

Regards

Mike

Yes, it’s all about preventing people putting, say coolant down the drains or letting oil deep into the ground. It’s protecting local environment, has been in place for years. It’s nothing sinister about getting older cars off the road.
