Where (I hope/hypothesise) this should ease after a few days is that people don't have limitless space to store their panic bought fuel, just their tanks, so once those that ran on fumes have filled up they need to use the fuel before they can do so again... Unlike the loo roll rush.

That said the couple of nearest stations to me were closed and I joined the queues (twice) today as 2 of our cars were down to a quarter tank and I know we have a lot of miles to cover this week. Not panicking, just planning ahead.

Any fuel delivery I've seen its the tanker driver who connects up, pumps the fuel into the tanks etc not the service station staff.

The dumb mindset of it all, the irresponsible selfish personality types of these people shock me beyond words.

I knew this would happen, many district nurses and carers across the country are unable to provide essential care to our most vulnerable, they either cannot get fuel or they are stuck in their cars waiting in queues for hours.

My mother has a district nurse and a carer visit her everyday, so far my mothers care has not be affected yet, but others up and down the country have not been so lucky.

To all those selfish folk out there that are sitting on a full tank of fuel and a dozen fuel cans sat in their garages and sheds, maybe one day you will need urgent care and wont be able to get it...

Stockpiling toilet rolls is one thing, but stockpiling petrol is absurd and outright dangerous.

To drive a lorry carrying any kind of hazardous load, fuel/explosives/chemicals....etc; you need an ADR qualification. Once you have that, often at your own expense, you need to be thoroughly trained on the vehicles & unloading practices, especially in the case of tankers. The fuel drivers used to be top of the wage tree but l think things have evened up somewhat, which is likely a reason why many lorry drivers, including me, don't consider sitting in front of thousands of gallons of fuel a worthwhile occupation. This lorry driver situation has been a long time coming for various reasons.

I got in the local garage last night with no huge line. I'll add I was empty and needed petrol, I'm not a panic buyer. Same garage this morning 15 deep waiting to get in.

Only 15 deep, the queue for my local Morrison’s petrol station was over 1/4 mile long this morning.

Oh the 2 closest supermarkets to me have NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- up shop as of today. This little local independent station is in the tiny ex mining village where I live so 15 is considerable.
