Default How does it effect your insurance?

If you are prosecuted and found guilty for failing to tell the police who was driving when asked following an incident, how does it effect your insurance? The incident could have taken place some days earlier and reported to the police by a member of the public.

Some criminal convictions, even those not related to driving are supposed to be declared to your insurer and can increase your premium though there are insurers that will still cover you. However, for such an offence as you've suggested AFAIK you would be more likely be dealt with by means of a caution which would not need to be declared. No that's not true any more. The police will prosecute the registered keeper and failure to notify is an offence so you will get points.
