These are 2 magnets from a speaker attracting each other. Each magnet as a yoke that is on th bottom then th black magnet and then th top plate with a recease circle cut in it to accomodate th voice coil.

Eh, maybe not. "Money men" run them for their own profit not the consumer.

I never said anything about the consumer, just that they run better. Money men do not want to spend money but make money so find an efficient way to do a job, to cut costs. Take BT, went from mechanical to electronic. Saved costs on failing parts, building running costs and men.

Steve
Back in the 80's used to fit pre-payment meters, 50p, £1 then the the tokens/key operated. Job sheet would read DNPA, Disconnection None Payment of Account. Remember well many would stand there smoking their cigarettes with a couple kids running round or having a top of the range VHS video installed (remember those?), demanding that I put a few coins through to keep them going till they got paid by the "dole". Nope.

The old dears I would help though though.

Meter would most likely spin faster after the magnets were removed.

You mean allow raw sewage to overflow into our rivers, thus saving the nuisance costs of treatment? Recent report saying that there's not a river in the country that is now clean. And who owns all our water boards etc? The money men . . .

It will work but only slightly with loud speaker magnets. They are not powerful enough.
When I worked on guided missiles ( Cough-cough ) we used magnetron magnets in some of the electronic equipment.

If you tried to push two together it was impossible.--If you had them the other way round when they would attract each other you had to be very careful as you could easily crush your fingers.

I worked on a drawing board that had a single steel round bar at the top. You could pick the whole weighty board up off the ground by using just one of these magnets placed on this top steel rail.

And YES.--These magnets would slow the meter.---
