Default Confused

Hi

I've just replaced a very poor aftermarket cream crackered radio in my facelift CDTi. The wiring had been hacked about and totally butchered, so I had a lot of work to do. All is now good except for the steering wheel controls. I don't have colours to match the wiring diagrams but believe this grey plug, 2 and 3 are the wires I need. One is hacked off so I'll have to find it.

Any help would be much appreciated and may save my few remaining hairs

Thanks

I can't see an IR unit and I can't find appropriate coloured wires. Is there any reason to stop me splicing into the three wires somewhere near this plug?

You could do that of course. But you only need to splice into the two wires that come out of the SWC at the "height" of the Mode button. These are the wires that send the signals to the unit. The head unit "sniffs" resistance so you need to take care to use the same gauge wires and splice well
