Even worse is if you can't get fuel. All the local stations ran out of diesel Redruth and Truro areas on Saturday. Our second son came home in his diesel golf on fumes (and fuming ) having tried several garages. On Sunday I had a trip planned in the Transit, and all stations I passed were still out of diesel. Carland Cross Shell Station on the A30/A39 junction was out of all diesel with nothing expected until this Wednesday 2nd March. I drove on to Newquay and on the way back tried the Texaco garage opposite the Gannel estuary which did have diesel, so I filled two cans for my son and topped up the Transit which was over half full. 159p/litre for regular, but I was grateful to get some. Happy son this morning as he could get to work, but these increases are rapid and eye-watering to think that if I did run the Transit tank to empty it would cost around £120 to fill it The truckers must be pulling their hair out!

But as last autumn there are no shortages, only those caused by irresponsible media reporting. At this time they appear to behaving themselves. Hopefully they will continue to do so.

Hopefully.

That gold paper is part of the national currency reserve.

We're very lucky as we can use the EV for most of our journeys which is helping and we're locked into 5p/unit off peak until jan 2023 so cheap motoring until then. My Sterling and ZT are both having their winter slumbers however the X5 which gets used when wifey and I need to be out at the same time is down to half a tank. I'm dreading having to fill that thing up next time

Tesco in Ely today had unleaded at £1.44 and Diesel at £1.46 I was fortunate enough to have filled up a week ago so can run about locally for a month now without worry.

I’m going to sell my campervan, it’s too much of a luxury for us to keep now. Prices of all things are going to go through the roof. It will be a good time for people to give up smoking and cut down on alcohol.
