Default Jacking pads now hard plastic?

Just bought a couple of new pads (from DMGRS) but surprised to see they're hard plastic not rubber as they used to be. I've smothered them in silicon but took a job to get them to clamp up - used the jack of course. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see them staying in as long as the OEM rubber which would give a little and mould into a less than perfect hole, if you get my meaning. Is there another source, apart from old ones off eBay, that would be rubber?

Anyone else share my misgivings?

They have never been rubber!!

I think the difference is that now the plastic is moulded in China and that will be inferior to the UK sourced raw materials.

Ah, well . . . As ever bowing to your superior knowledge might I tentatively suggest that they were somewhat in-between? I can remember years ago there was a trade mag Plastic & Rubber Weekly - no dear nothing to do with Health & Efficiency, that was something entirely different - so the industry was somewhat conjoined if that's the word?

I used to be a regular reader, I shall investigate the plastic used in the jacking pads when I get chance..
