Default Anthracite

My daughter-in-law recently bought a MGZT-T. It's actually a very interesting colour looks very dark blue but black when wet. The paint code is LQW which translates as Anthracite. All the paperwork describes the colour as grey. I just wondered how we end up with grey from something that (to my eye) looks anything but grey. All the paperwork is genuine, the colour has not been changed.

Thanks for that. I do fail to see how they can call it grey. I do happen to think it is a really nice colour. She wanted black but I think she loves this even more.

I have a ZT190 in Anthracite Black (LQW) & oddly enough, they do class it as Grey on the logbook.

It definately has a hint of Blue in certain light.

Pic attached of my 190.

Another anthracite owner here!

To be honest to me it looks closer to black but with a blueish hint in the right light. Love the colour, but like all black(ish) cars it looks grubby really quickly so has to be cleaned pretty regularly!

I have a ZS in LQW and on the way home from work this morning I got stopped by the Cambridgeshire Fuzz for having a car that was registered as Grey, but looked blue when he was following me. He did change his mind though after having a good look at it. I thought it would be a good idea to throw into the mix that I thought it would be better described as Black but that the colour was actually Anthracite.

Anthracite is a hard coal, we know coal is black, but anthracite when burned burns with a blue flame producing little particulate.

When you look at a chunk of this stuff, it's not dusty like "normal" coal, but shiny, harder with a bluish hue to it.

I often small pieces of anthracite at the top of the garden, as there was a mineral waggonway that ran through my garden from the local colliery.

Having owned a ZT in LQW I would always describe it as black with a bluish tint, never grey.......however if you are going to own a "grey" ZT, you may as well own one which isn't the other

My last 190 was described as grey on the log book however, my tf is down as black on the book, it too looks blue or black depending on the light, my 190 just looked black.
