I've bought another Rover
A year to the day, since buying my, briefly owned, P5B and I decided to buy another V8 engined Rover. This time, it's a P6 3500 auto, series 2. It's a 1975 car, in Monza red, with black boxpleat leather, sundym glass, 3500S badging, and steering wheel, bootmount spare wheel, SD1 Vanden Plas alloy wheels (in gold ) which has no tax, or MOT. It also comes with spare cylinder heads, and, tubular manifolds, and four spare fibreglass wings! The owner has sold the bumpers, exhaust, and petrol tank, but I've already tracked down these parts, acquiring a very good stainless exhaust for far less than it'd normally be! I bought a couple of bits for my 2000 from the seller, and, when the price of the 3500 was reduced to a level I could justify, I bought it, unseen. I've paid for the car, and will be collecting it on Sunday, with a car trailer The car is one that I remember seeing at shows when I was younger, and, it still looks okay, but is a project, and obviously needs work!
Here's a photo of the car, taken in 2006, by me. It doesn't look this good now, but, it should be an interesting project to be getting on with! The wheels in the photo are also gone, replaced with series 2 SD1 wheels. If anyone of you know anything about the car, I'd be interested to hear more! Here's an underbonnet shot, taken from the ebay ad that appeared very briefly. It appears to have an SD1 V8 fitted. |

Lovely car, now I know why the 75 looks like it does! Call me thick but at 42 I was always a Ford man until I bought a 75 to sell!

I had the 3.5 vandenplas model. Absolutely fantastic model. Moonraker Blue. When we used to go to Germany, it used to get plenty of admiring looks.

I also learnt to drive in a 2000TC. You are right, you can see where some of the inspiration for the Rover 75 came from. There are lots of small details, like the seat styling, the clock, but also the general feel of the car. The P6 is a fantastic car and the Rover 75 design team did a good job in managing to capture some of the soul. This one is a lovely colour. My one was that brown colour, that was fashionable in the early 70s

It's coming home on Sunday, Tam, and I won't even be there for that, as I'll be too busy touring the Lake District in the 2000, giving it a proper workout for the first time in a while, trying to keep up with MGBs.
