Default Fuel Leak

Got a weird problem...

I've had a buildup of fuel around the injectors, and my economy is a little down on usual.

It leaves the top of the inlet manifold visibly damp.

At one point I noticed the fuel overflow / return hose coming from the top of the injectors was damp so I replaced it in case it was leaking - but still got same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?!

I've had this and found the return pipe damp. Dried everything off and wrapped tissue paper around all the pipes. Ran the engine at idle and it turned out to be a weeping HP pipe connection to one of the injectors.

Tightened it up and all was good again.

Could you elaborate on this at all?

I put some kitchen roll under the engine cover to find the leak but it's so small nothing shew up

I can see the fuel rail but theres several unions, none of which are that accessible (and all appear to have 2 bolts!)

Yes with the engine cover off wrap the tissue around the pipes that go from the common rail to the injectors. It was one of the pipe connections that was leaking on mine.

After running the engine at idle for around 5 minutes the tissue around the weeping pipe union just started to show damp.

There are nuts on the pipes, I assume he meant those. I doubt such a tiny leak would affect your mpg. Someone last week suggested the PCV as a possible cause, if the filter needs replacing, internal pressure can blow oil out of the PCV seals - which might appear to be a diesel leak from an injector.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Replaced the PCV filter (& seals, and cleaned out the housing, but not replaced) and used the BMW "fit and forget" filter as well trying to fix it

Yes, I placed kitchen roll on top of the injectors but it appears that it's not coming from there, and might be coming from underneath and floating up into the inlet manifold.

Any ideas?
