Modern car technology
A friend's son recently drove him in his new Golf, fitted with collision avoidance systems. The young man drove with his eyes off the road, maximum acceleration everywhere and relied on the system to do the braking and keep him safe, which it did, though Dad said he's never driving with him again .
It's the old anti-Volvo argument, the safer you make cars, the worse people drive. Motorcyclists lived in fear of Volvo 240 drivers |

Totally agree. I have the dubious pleasure of driving through Bradford twice a day in the rush hour. Seriously bad driving day in and day out. Bradford must be worlds biggest Dodgen car circuit

the only thing I trust to keep me safe is me. I have heard in the past that people rely on modern technology to keep them safe and drive to the limits of the car which is outside their limits as a driver. me, I'd prefer someone to drive safe and the car comes to their aid when they make a mistake, not drive like they have stolen it and rely on the car

Don't worry, autonomous cars will be here soon and then we won't have to worry about idiots driving like idiots!
My current car has self braking however in almost 3 years it hasn't yet been used once. That said the traction control did help to save the car once, went round a bend on wide A road only to find that the local farmer had moved most of his field on to the road starting halfway round the bend. Suffice to say that other then the car feeling a little wobbly it went round the bend without too many issues. Sadly the Renault Megan parked in the field with a good chuck of its front end missing wasn't so lucky.
