Default my first cry for help

hello, i've just bought a mk 2 saloon diesel thats done 70,000mls.
It,st got many faults that I,m working on.
The strangest one is a howling noise when I,m stationery and revving
the engine between idle and 1500-2000 revs.
I,ve checked turbo hoses and air filter box ( there was damage to the box
where it seals, and i,ve corrected this ??? ) any ideas

One of the more knowledgeable folk will be along soon, but I would have a look at the exhaust? Could be you can hear the turbo spooling up via a split in the flexi??

Could it be the fuel line resonance?

Is the air con on? If so switch it off (econ Button) and see if the noise disappears.

Hi John.
I wonder if you are hearing the ( whale whoop ) due to the air con overheating ? check out the link below.

As suggested earlier, could well be the exhaust flexi.
