£130 cheaper than Rimmers!
For some weeks I've been combing eBay and all the obvious breakers and used parts suppliers for a Mk 1 Tourer tailgate handle or plinth as some call it plus micro switch - with no luck. With considerable reluctance I was about to order up a new part that surprisingly Mr Rimmer still has but I thought I'd try inputting the parts no. rather than a description to Google - when lo and three Alleluias up came one from Messrs Brown & Gammons Ltd. Brand new and at an unbelievable cost saving. And ordered yesterday 4pm, arrived here today and fitted. I'm a very happy bunny. (I think they may have one left). What a great firm.
Incidentally I was surprised to find that you need a security bit (held by four bolts) to get the old one off, but I thought that's OK, I bought a set when I needed a spare key and you've got to extract that box by your right knee. But learn something every day, the security bits I had were 5 points, and this one was 6pt. Why on earth have two different security fixings on one car? Anyway I was in luck again for ToolStation had an excellent Draper set (33 different bits) for a most attractive price of just £6.

I have that Draper set, good set. I have also squeezed in a small socket where the extension sits, that is the right size for the torx bits so I can use a socket wrench. macafee2 |
