Default Replace Rusty Rear Spring advice please

Having just finished replacing both front springs I turned my attention to the rear springs.
The question is should I replace these springs or clean them up and paint them. What do knowledgeable and sensible people think.

get them changed whilst your in there. a good session of frosty weather will see them off anyway by the look of them. do them both and you will be glad that you did. ..

I did my two rear springs a few days ago, i noticed one had broken after i had taken my wheels off the car to clean the properly and inspect the arms springs etc.

While i did this i also found out the rear arms need changing, so whom ever does the job for you make sure they check the inner cup which holds the spring for corrosion.

Also make sure the arm drain hole aligns with one of the notches in the spring rubber end mount.(Rimmer illustration part 3). Otherwise spring end will sit in water.

Hi Ken.
good advice as you can see even though my drain holes lined up in the cup, the spring had broken making me change both springs recently, which in turn i spotted corrosion in the cups, you could just see tiny pin holes starting so arms will have to be changed asap.

Along with a few other jobs under the car i would say the NUK needs at least £750 spending on it.

I have replaced the spring on the near-side. The off-side is next when the paint dries. You were right about corrosion in the cup. The spring on mine had been replaced but who ever did it didn't line up the drain holes properly so there was some corrosion. I hope that it will last a few more years after that I suppose petrol cars will be almost illegal.
