Is there a definitive How to change driver's door lock?
My driver's door fails to unlock with the remote - though I can with the key but trawling through the forum came across a multitude of conflicting advice, the most recent being only in April here.
I am presuming I've got to acquire a new lock but the task looks full of unwelcome traps from taking out the window winder, and glass, to removing the outside handle and probably shearing two tiny torx screws. Is there any straightforward "fail-proof" (ho, ho) How to that I've missed?

It sounds like you only need to replace the actuator, there should be no need to remove the door glass, or the outside handle...this thread is the one you want. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...t=91292&page=1 Post No 7 details the operation although the photos were removed by photobucket, however they were re posted separately on posts 57-59. Its a fiddly operation but with a little patience it can be done, just do not refit the door card until you've locked and unlocked the door a number of times to make absolutely sure it works!! You don't need to shut the door to check the lock - just flick the mechanism closed with a screwdriver and open it a couple times on both the inner and outer handles

1 Also make sure the dog bone is in the right way leave it attached to the handle on the door, no need to remove the other handle to just change out the lock actuator. 2
