That'll be a one-off then. I had an 827 Sterling with one of those in it, one of the few things that let me down!

I found it to one of the best bits in mine. Mind you it was a ex-goverment VIP protection car, it had different cams, ecu, some seroius cylinder head portingand the exhaust manifolds were the tubular extractor type. I had to have an exhaust made for it as I could not buy on off the shelf. It went to the big scrap yard in the sky when the ecu went as I couldn't get another and it wouldn't run with any that the rover dealer tried, it did have over 140000 miles on it when it went.. I was sad to see it go it went like something of a blanket

I agree to both points!

Don't know what caused it but it lost power over a couple of days, had to have both heads skimmed, and most of the valves (24valve motor!) replaced.

Although my car was standard, it was really good, but gradually fell apart tinworm-wise at about 130000 miles and 8 years. I got about £1,100 in p-ex, but enjoyed a few years luxury motoring.

Here here!

We had a J reg 1992 827 Sterling saloon, grey leather
Sold it when got to 180K ! Not a drop of oil leaking anywhere.

Didn't let us down once, not even the electric windows!

We replaced it with the 825 Sterling Coupe which was a bit of a disappointment compared with the old one.

Bloke down beside me bought a mint (and i mean MINT) 827 sterling automatic off a Rover dealer, one owner, full history, 30,000 miles, unmarked leather, and all the toys.

in the 2 years of ownership, he has hit it 6 times, never cleaned or polished it, driven it like a madman so much that it just scraped through it last MOT and no more (and definitely won't get the next one without major work) and when I asked him would he sell it (to rescue it from him) he wanted £500 more than he paid for it as "it's a classic now"

I think there should be an offence for people like that who don't care for thier cars
