I've ordered the expensive ones from Rimmers to see if there's any difference. The holes don't look any bigger though - how did you get them to go on over the tapered tips of the hangers? I've tried grease (after a good dunk in boiling water) and the rubber still won't stretch over the tips.

My clamps won't stay on - they just keep flying off at the crucial moment.

Soapy water to lubricate and I think the plumbers pliers worked in the end to squeeze them on . It was a bit of a pig though !

Red rubber grease is your best friend with the hanger rubbers, & some circlip pliers apply grease to the rubber & metal hangers on the car and exhaust.

Plumber's pliers - good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I'll give 'em a try when Rimmers deliver the bits. They're late - it was supposed to be next day delivery. £10.95 + vat = not good enough.

I've got a whole tin of red rubber grease - I'll slap it on. What are the circlip pliers for? (Surely they're not tough enough to enlarge the holes?)
