Pressure relief valve will probably open at 2 to 2.5 bar

sorry I interpreted unbolt as remove.

Well boiler engineer came a few weeks ago, was only there 10 mins and shouted up the stairs to my daughter that it was fixed. Within a week it kept dropping pressure, at first once a week, then every couple of days, then every day, the 2/3 times a day. Called Baxi, they said they would send a senior engineer out this time, he came on Monday, fitted a new expansion vessel and said that’s it sorted. Just like in the Xmas panto, “oh no it isn’t” . I got up at 8 this morning and the place was freezing. The heating goes off at 8 am, but it hadn’t come on, came down and checked the boiler, guess what? Pressure had dropped . So will have to ring them yet again and probably not get it fixed before Xmas, this will be the fourth visit since August, So am totally fed up with this.

where does water go to if it is released from the system? Can you check at this outlet to see if water is being released?

If the expansion tank is faulty the high pressure valve will open and let water escape. Then when the boiler is off, the water in the system cools down and you are back with low pressure again.

Tie a plastic bag over the emergency pressure relief valve outlet (short copper pipe, should be outside). Then you can see if it is coming out of there.

If it isn't the vessel, then do you have a leak somewhere on your heating or cylinder pipework?

That is the high pressure valve. Generally they open at 2.5 to 3 bar

and what happens when it opens?
I think I trying to say, if this is a pressure relief valve and vents externally, has this gone weak and opens too soon and dumps water externally causing the pressure to drop?
