Default V6 rear silencer

Hello all
The support strap on the rear box of my 2.5 V6 saloon has snapped. The box isn't blowing at all even though the outer skin is badly corroded. I can buy a replacement Klarius box for less than 50 quid, with a 5 year warranty, which has supporting lugs attached to the box - thus doing away with the rover metal strap. My only concern is that I once bought a Klarius back box for my 75 1.8T and it wouldn't fit (the original rover box and the Klarius box were different shapes).
I have always been a fan of Bosal and I understand that they manufactured the original Rover exhaust systems. I can buy a new Bosal box for my V6 for less than 100 quid but I would also have to buy the Bosal supporting strap, which adds to the cost. The latter isn't as expensive (by a long chalk) as the genuine rover item listed on Rimmer's site.
My question is, does anyone know if the Bosal supporting strap (Bosal part no. 251-960) will fit the original rover back box? The latter could well last another 5 years and its retention would obviously save me money in the short to medium term.
Ta for any help.

I've got a Klarius rear box on my 2.5. It fits fine. Like most after market boxes it's not as quiet as the Rover part, particularly between 1400 and 2200 revs but if you can live with that it seems a cost effective solution. Just make sure you get some decent rear hangers to avoid the pipe knocking on the rear cross member which can drive you to distraction.

Good morning.

I had the exact same problem on my 2.5 V6 about two/three years ago.

I just removed the corroded outer skin and replaced the bottom strap on the exhaust bracket with the correct Rover part.

The only extra thing I did was run a tap through the bolt holes in the top part before fitting the strap.

It was still going strong when the back box finally gave up the ghost.

I have literally just replaced it with a Klarius back box (complete with a new set of rubber mounts), it was a good fit and I have been impressed with it so far.

Cheers
