the point is that the cool running started before changing any stats, in summer it would only get as high as 69 on the motorway, even in 24 degree weather.

Anyway, ill give the coolant sensor a go, I think the part I need is this?

you cant have 2 stats or the system cant cycle just b trapped between both stats

if you have the 1800 turbo then the engine stat is just a dummy .the 1800 turbo engines are fitted with the prt that is to the right front of the car just follow top hose from the rad and your see it ...it sounds like the system wasnt flushd enough leaving alot of **** in the engine ,you need to flush it again and again and again to clear it before bleeding it properly .. have you felt the hose1sw to see if they are all hot .check the smaller ones that go in to the matrix as i feel that is the problem
