You do tend to get more bang for your bucks with a desktop pc but the problem for me atm is one of space to accommodate one. They need a dedicated space which would be nice to have and maybe a better setup for me to use but for now a laptop is really the only practical option ... with all of the limitations they have re upgrading. I have used an Advent 9517 laptop running Vista as my everyday pc for the last decade, I'm not into gaming or watching online movies and the like so it has served me well for what I use it for. Unfortunately the screen has gradually dimmed over time and while my intention is to replace the backlight when time permits an opportunity appeared on ebay which caught my eye. So I took the plunge and bought ... another Advent 9517. I know, it's a bit of an old dog in hardware terms but it is a dog that I know well and actually it is very much a new-born puppy in terms of use.
Under 16 days HDD use showing on receipt and the laptop's general appearance and the feel of its keyboard are indicative of very little use. As for the screen, I can't believe the difference and that I didn't realize sooner the degree to which the old one had deteriorated. I might have to wear my sunglasses for a while to get used to it lol. Last edited by WillyHeckaslike; 16th June 2019 at 12:34.. |

It gets worse, car bumper has been scuffed on the offside f4ont co4ner and the hear side rear window and side of the caravan has been damaged, The corner of the window has been smashed on the outer skin (Perspex) and there are several deep dents and scratches on the bodywork behind the window.
Going to contact the insurance company tomorrow. It’s been a VERY expensive weekend! 440 for the exhaust, 80 in fuel 62 for meal last night, and 36 quid at BK Lancaster services this afternoon, 4 burgers 4 regular fries and 3 drinks, absolute rip. Then there is the 100;xs on caravan insurance plus the premium hike next year. Trouble is with the van being stored at a farm, very few companies will cover it, it has to be in a secure storage site. Yours very p,,..ed offly. Rich.

Steve, the Leprechaun pub is still in existence, but not in Chester itself, it’s more Deeside, slightly out of Chester, about 8 miles from the town. We were at the retail, park in n Sealand road yesterday, this road runs for quite a distance,I just googled the pub, and it still exists, looked at maps and as said it’s about 8 miles from town. In the 3 years my daughter has been there, she lived at Eversham Place, Bouverie Street and Ermine Road. Did you attend the uni or were you working in the area? She was based at Kingsway Campus, slightly northeast of the town, whereas the Parkgate Campus is just outside the town centre.

Yes Richard, I lived and worked in the area at Sealand which is not far from the Leprechaun. Welsh Road I think might be the Lep's official location but the Sealand Road that I was referring to is what was the ground of Chester's football club. The Taylor Report I think had an adverse effect on the ground's viability and it is no more but the club lives on at a new ground.

Morning all at 05.00
A wee road trip to Sussex this morning with the Bear. A tankful should last me the 165 miles. Grey with the promise of rain.
