All the more reason to rescue it then.

My father in law had quite a few 800’s, the two stand out ones were a 2.0 non turbo saloon with a body kit fitted from the factory and an 827 vitesse fastback which was a rare manual. Good cars but seem to rust underneath more than any other car around that time.

Only driven an 800 series once. A company I worked for had a new 800 on demo for a week and I drove it from Norfolk to Heathrow to collect some Swedish directors, both they and myself thought it rather nice.
I've been seriously thinking about getting a usable classic as my daily driver but it will be a year or so before I'm in a position to make the change, my days of driving 100s of miles to meets around the country are over so if all goes to plan come December 2021 I'll put a fresh MOT on my Diesel ZTT auto (it may of hit 100,000 by then) sell that and the caravan and buy a nice little classic for shopping and do some local shows. We'll see what the future holds but that's the plan.

I'm guessing this would have been an early car, with the special 'smoothed' bumpers & side mouldings, and the boot spoiler that went right along the sides of the bootlid (ending at the base of the rear screen) ?
