I am afraid they most certainly do. If you think about it for a minute, tanker drivers are driving a bomb about all the time. Empty or full. They have to have anti terrorist training for one. Just think if a terrorist tried to ‘capture’ a tanker? They also have to go through a tough driving test, not just the ordinary driving test, when they start a driving job at a distribution of fuel Centre. Connection of pipes to tanks. The filling of tankers at the distribution centre. Can go on if you like. Tanker driving is not for those who just think the job just entails sitting behind the steering wheel. And on behalf of All lorry drivers, it is about time wages were improved, and conditions. Those that work in comfy offices, and work roughly just over half the hours a lorry driver works, for more money than a driver, should try lorry driving for a living. You won’t last long believe me.

Oh Err! Read a little about a shortage of drivers etc. Should I rush out now and queue for fuel somewhere? Think not as a glass or two with dinner would have other implications!

Most of the idiots rushing out to fill up, are the people who pull up behind me and put three or four gallons in their tank, and then sit there glaring at me putting 10/12 gallons in. Shame really. I know a few people who wait until the red light comes on signifying they are nearly out of fuel before ‘filling up’ again.

Summary
This is how bazaar this situation is unfolding:

UK govt: "This isn't just a British problem - Europe hasn't got any truck drivers either"

Also UK govt: "Let's solve it by giving visas to the European truck drivers Europe hasn't got"

Yes you need to get an addition qualification which involves a week's course and costs about £800

Th BBC try to say its Brexit. Th reality is th T&Cs dont work. Boris is trying everything bar sorting th real dilema that nobody wants to do it. Thousands of un used licences are out there... Why?

This not just a driver shortage. No carers. No police. No doctors or nurses. I could go on. These people worked threw covid at great risk.

Boris says. Lets you turn and put a sticking plaster on it and hope it all goes away. I thought th open market worked on supply and demand. Its time to sort th supply by increasing workers availability.

Somebody in the BBC News department has a sense of humour. The main location reporter involved in the "fuel shortage" story is called Phil McCann.

[QUOTE=Arctic;2901002]I wonder in the future will those with EV cars get charged less for their electric usage or will those whom who do not have EV cars get charged a different rate.

Surely those that do not have EV cars should not have to subsidise those that do and will be plugging into the grid every night about 18.00pm on wards.

By 2030 we will be paying in the region £3,000 per year for our gas & electric at this rate.

Having just driven back across Europe, Germany in particular and stopping at one their 'simple' rest areas with just parking and a toilet block, this one had two EV charging points installed. Both were in use, then two more EVs arrived. One waited and waited, the Other drove off to find another I presume.
First time I've seen a queue for charging but a sign of the times? If electric is the way we are all being pushed, Govs will have to install many, many more charging facilities...
Coffee break over, I drove off rather smugly in a diesel.
No problem with fuel over there either, or with trucks it would appear.

How many of you have been Google searching the EV life these past few days then?

Google search data reveals that online searches for electric cars in the UK have rocketed.

I'm sure the recent fuel crisis wasn't instigated by some bright spark to get us all buying electric, surely its just another conspiracy theory?

If it wasn't planned, it's sure given the powers that be some great ideas.
