Looking at Rover 216
So Today I drove@ 2.5 hours to have a look at a 1993 Rover 216 cabriolet...
I knew the car need some attention but boy did I get a shock... When I got there the seller told me that cats had got into the cat through the Brocken screen on the back...OK not to bad I thought...Lets see what state its in.... The Cars interior was covered in cat hair every seat and carpet covered....and for the extra surprise there was poop on the rear seat...now cats do not do toilet where they sleep...and it was to big, more like a dog, So I think he was letting his dog and cats use it as a bed.... Anyway...seeing pass that....I saw potential... That was until he attached the booster pack on the wrong way round and we could get no lights on the Instrument cluster and the car would not start...The alarm light was flashing, and we got that turned off but again, no life. After looking at the Lower Cross member which was completely rotted thru on both says, I got the usual ( I have a spare one) and the rad was crumbling in my hands. Why do people waste other peoples time, He could of let me know it would not start and or that the Cross member was gone. Has anyone else had a waste of time like that.

Absolutely yes.
A few weeks ago I drove 3 hours to collect a Rover 600 auto. Described as a few marks, nothing serious. It needed a full respray. Opinions vary on condition. Why do people deliberately give a false description of something so obvious? He continued to drop the price. Before I set off it was £1200 reduced to £800. When I walked away it dropped to £550. I still said no. He said he would readvertise it but I've not seen it since so I'm certain he has broken it for spares. That's a 6 hour round trip I will never get back. The car probably ran until he connected the booster pack the wrong way and blew the main fuse. R8 cabs are getting very rare now.
