Mags etc were only used as a means. If you didn't "provide" You would be at the border for umpteen hours while all baggage and persons were checked. We had better things to do in life!

I can understand where you are coming from. If I was getting someone out of prison or jail abroad, it helped with their exit I had a bottle of Scotch or 200 fags to smooth things along. It is life, you are correct. Each case merited a judgment call as sometimes a bribe would not have been appropriate. I have not heard of mags being used - that’s a new one on me. I hated having to deal with anything mafia related, as all they were interested in was money and their own rules.

Yeah, I forgot about the scotch. That was mega important for greasing the upper chain

Yeah, in an ideal world this would not need to be done. Thankfully I was only abused (mentally scared) for two years

A difficult and challenging time for you. I won’t pry and ask you about it.

Last year, one of our friends in Kenya was shot to death by an assassin on a motorcycle. She was a well known environmentalist and conservationist, who was protecting a local forest from property developers and land grabbers. Ultimately protecting the trees took her life.

Don’t you find, there are more good people in the world than there are bad people?

the 4% energy cap rise in France looks very good compared to our UK situation. I'm afraid we have been let down by successive governments.

We got an email from our energy provider (Octopus) yesterday saying we're on the best tariff (flexible) & we will be paying £50 less than the price cap starting April.
I'm not bothering with a cheap overnight EV tariff as if you opt for that you're daily tariff goes up enormously.

  • As you know, global energy costs have risen enormously
  • So far, we've spent £100 million holding down prices for Flexible Octopus customers like you over winter
  • The Government price cap has increased almost £58 per month for a typical home
  • The other big suppliers have announced price rises to within a few pennies of the maximum legally allowed
  • Your prices will be lower: £50 less
  • We're not adjusting payments now, but will be in touch soon with a recommendation should your payments need to change
  • We're doubling our Octopus Assist fund to £5m to help more customers who need it most

I understand that global energy prices are increasing, but why does the standing charge have to increase by 50% ?

Ask your energy company/companies and let us know what they say.
