I've seen this car at my local Saisburys in Chesterfield. I could be interested in saving if she's a runner and still local? If you have any contact would you put me in touch? I don't Facebook. Cheers

Hi yes sadley it’s mine I’ve had it about 3 years and wasn’t in the best of shape when I got it it’s had a hard life even tho it’s low miles when I got it there was quite a few bodges with it as to get it through mot when I got it had to replace the abs pump then fix the ipk as they had damaged the abs led. Paint work wasn’t the best had to have replacement bonnet drivers wing and even the bumper. The interior is black leather but is missing some of the trim and at some point previous owner had replaced the roof lining making things not fit proper. Was in daily use until about 5 weeks ago but had a issue where both front hubs had failed basically the ball joint has worn out in the hub I tried to get a secondhand drivers hub and they seem to be like hens teeth so due to needing a car a got a saloon that’s a diesel tourer. I really don’t want to scrap this one as it’s a early one but scrap has offered £465 lifted from home if the car had been in n.I I would have had it lifted down to a friends and parked up until I had a doner one for parts to bring this one back up to scratch

Would a 2001 be classed as early?

Thanks to Craig 861, the old girl has been put back together and she's mine now. Scrap man averted, she's back on the road now.

Ravinder I owe you a pint next time I'm in Kirkcaldy as I would never have known about it!

I was sad to see it go but kno it will live on I’ve had it for 3 years and apart from the front hubs I can’t fault it it would have still been running now if I had not of needed the hubs so urgent but because it was my Dailey drive I had to replace it

Talking

She was pretty much as you said, both hubs were goosed. Pair of ABS sensors, a wheel bearing and a track rod end (one didn't want to come off) and of course the second hand hubs I'd got did the job. Checked the wishbones with a micrometer they looked OK, there's no play in them now. Knocked the dent out in the tailgate. Next job is probably the interior, just doing the bits as I get chance. She seems to run well, done a couple of trips to work in Sheffield. Definitely not embarrassed to park next to the gaffers new BMW and his oppo's Jag. Probably will enter her for Rover Fest in August if I can convince the mrs it's a treat for our anniversary
