75 TDCi tourer 53 plate
Engine failed to start 3 yrs ago. Crank sensor failed. Replaced but engine would not run above 2700. After lot of trials traced to faulty sensor, Xpart. Replaced by German after market one. Ran well for 25k now this has failed. Replaced with another Xpart one and this has appeared to fail whilst running giving "Check engine " message after 22 mls. Am I missing some thing or is it just bad luck?

I had a "Check Engine" message on the dashboard display.
Marinabrian suggested I check the (3 pole?) connector near the fuel filter and under-bonnet pump, just to the left and front of the battery box. Sure enough it was starting to pull out by strain on the wire, attached to the front top edge of the battery box. That was on a '53 diesel. The man was spot on. |

If the engine is still running but you have the check engine message then nothing to do with the crank sensor.
