That part in Colverts photo isn't the slave cylinder guide tube, its the two part connector joining the master cylinder pipe to the slave cylinder pipe and are part of the pipes, the connectors alone not available as separate parts.

A couple of questions:

1) How do they know which side of the coupling is faulty, master cyl or slave cyl side, or are they just guessing ?

2) If they guess wrongly and replace the slave cyl side and it still leaks, what then, will they also want to replace the master cyl and pipe?

I don't think the pipes and coupling are available on their own new but could be obtained off a scrapper, difficult were you are.

They are a simple push fit, retained by a 3MM roll pin and split pin.

As seen in this photo

There is only that one connector so I guess they mean that.---If it's faulty it will leak onto the gear box.---

From what they showed me it looks like they're working on the master cylinder side leaking. Its being done under warranty but I'd have paid for a new master cylinder if they'd diagnosed it earlier. Even though they replaced the MC, some weeks before.

Common sense seems to be in short supply in Spain. But then again everyone's purfect???

The fittings are quite robust and are a very simple design, however, if they don't / didn't know how to disconnect them correctly and have mauled them about a bit, that could be the reason it's leaking.

Ask for both the cylinders when the jobs done.

If it was me I'd fit a standard hydraulic compression joint and bleed the system. Saves mucking about with replacing anything.

Problem is that the pipework isn't metal but thin walled plastic, so unless inserts were available to prevent crushing the pipe when using a compression fitting to join the two pipes it wouldn't work!

The 6mm ones we use at work come with ferrules and are good for 60 bar, so 870 odd psi in old money.

An air fitting works a treat for this type of fix.
