I hate you.

In 1961 we had the 'pleasure' of being flown from Dyce (Aberdeen) to RAF Topcliffe and return for an RAF Rugby match, ourselves having had a visit for the Annual AOC parade at RAF Buchan (Peterhead) that morning. The phrase '30,000 rivets flying in close formation' was certainly appropriate as it was a 'Hastings' of Transport Command.

Hardly compares with my flights during the Flight Testing our 4 Concorde Test Aircraft (3 British and 1 French!) in the early 70's until 1980.
Incidently, in my Air Cadet flying enjoyed flights in an Anson, Chipmunk and a Canberra from Binbrook to Germany and back.

Reading the title my mind went Merlin
I flew in the Grace Spitfire a few years ago.
The pilot raced in the Red bull Air Race.

It is great that these planes are available for members of the public to fly in. I hope you got the same emotional feeling as I did.

Shame there is not a lot more WWII planes about, the engineers and enthusiasts that keep them going do a wonderful job

In actual fact, during the Battle of Britain, Hurricanes shot down more enemy aircraft than all other plane types and anti-aircraft guns combined. Impressive!

Hurricane = the plane that saved Britain.

Ken that must have been an absolute treat!

Agreed (It was the ultimate bomber killer), but:

The Spitfire was the better dogfighter.

In any event, I would give my right kidney to get the chance to ride shotgun in either one.

That is about what a ride would cost
