I wish they'd tell Octopus energy! I think they're having a laugh. Just got an email from them this morning saying we need to be paying a further £104/month on top of our monthly bill which has doubled in price over the last six months for our dual fuel energy

We're a low energy usage household & already over £200 in credit going into the Summer months

We wont be using the gas central heating for the next 4-5 months which will put us even further in credit going into Winter & even then it's only turned on for a few hours at night time.
The MG only gets topped up with a charge twice a month costing no more than £10-15/month. I'll have to find some money seeds & plant a money tree I think.

We're with BG, just provided my monthly readings to them we're £120 in credit, paying £160/month.

Reckon we could be in quite a bit of credit come the autumn and the £400 help.

Personally thank goodness the government are helping

Helping, I question the price you are paying per unit, is it too high? If it is too high, whose fault is that? Someone set a price per unit that could be charged.

In the grand scale of things it's not too high, just that they've got the dd too high but then they've never got it right. We locked in back in October on a 2 year deal had a £160 rebate in February. We've a 3/4 bed bungalow with a rather old gas boiler.

E-On now admit that letters stating older analogue power meters are unsafe, might not be entirely truthful :

"When questioned by Money, E.On said that its meters were not unsafe but that Mills’s meter, originally installed in 2002, was reaching the end of its lifespan and might not work effectively."

(What they really mean is that they can't guarantee that the analogue meters won't start under-reading. Which costs them, not you !)

"These letters are not in response to any specific incident and there is no need for any undue concern among customers.”

Single phase analogue meters used to have a cert date of 19 years. When changed they would be brought in to the workshop serviced and recertified for another 19 years. Occasionally customers would complain that their meter was faulty and we would carry out a standard load test (slt). This consistered of connecting a known load for a set period of time and the meter was read. Rarely, if ever was a meter found to faulty.

Meters were generally only dangerous if tampered with or installed incorrectly.

Our DD has gone down and we are building up credit so when winter comes we should not get a huge bill.

Also have managed for the last two days to load up the car and trailer with wood, free, for the winter of 2025 to use in the log burner. I need a bigger trailer. I expect I will get more free wood during the year. Take it while I can.

A local resident is looking into solar panel's for a number of residents hoping to get a bulk deal. As it is summer, with our solar panels we are managing to be under £3 a day for electric, we have no gas or oil.

ya, me when they dont want it and give it away.
Friend of my son in law had some trees he did not want so down they came, my son in law had most of the wood and I got a load. The owner did not want the wood and the trees were being felled at mates rates as my son in law knew the tree surgeon.

Another tree surgeon had cut down some trees on his own land but did not want the wood so again my son in law knows him, got a load and so did I .

Hopefully this will be how things go, the two tree surgeons not always wanting the wood and neither do the owners and so my son in law who will be working with them from time to time will get the wood instead of money.

Everyone is happy.

My son in law seems to get to know people, he is a very likeable lad. He was given some wood and a heavy duty trailer but when stripping it down to repaint, we found rot in the chassis. His neighbour puts a lot of work somones way and asked this guy to take on the repair of the trailer for free. A true cashless society
