Heated Front Windscreen fitter required
Hello,
I bought one of the heated front screens a few years ago but never got round to fitting it, now seems a good time as a crack appeared in the bottom centre of mine and is gradually getting worse. Could anyone recommend a windscreen fitter, preferably who has fitted them to our cars before somewhere in reasonably driving distance to South Hampshire. I did buy a new rain sensor but are there any clips around the windscreen I would need to get before the job starts as I'm sure they probably break. Thanks Graham

Help
Help required please,
Had to go for Auto Windscreens in the end as they are local and would actually do a "remove and refit" that wasn't a insurance job unlike some other company's I tried. They did the job this morning but he said their windscreens turn up with everything fitted i.e. the rain sensor and more importantly the rear view mirror mounting boss which in his words is virtually welded to the screen. In all the posts I've read there was never a mention of needing a new rear view mirror mounting only the rain sensor, any advice would be appreciated on buying / fitting one as at present I don't have a rear view mirror. Graham

Thank's, I did manage to get the fitter who did the job to ring me, he said he had never had to remove the boss before so is going to try and retrieve one
and drop it off to me. This is why I wanted to get a fitter with experience of fitting our heated front screens but it seems there wasn't any. If I get any problems I'll try Rick. Graham

Recommended windscreen fitter in Yorkshire
Dear Al
I to have a heated front screen and would like to get it fitted. Can anyone recommend one in Yorkshire? Where will I get a new mirror boss from and what glue do I use? Best wishes Bob |

I had a new regular screen fitted 8 or so months back. It was spot on for size and spec. (manufactured by Pilkington) - it came 'bare' so the auto-dimming rear view assembly was removed from the old screen and re-fitted to the new one by the fitter but the screen itself is prepared for either auto-dimming or not, they are two different products. Otherwise it all appeared to be standard operating procedure.
