Default The important serrated clips

Here's an important tip for you Bill.

After you've fitted the new thermostat along with the two pipes, it is absolutely vital that the two plastic serrated clips in the channels on the straight pipe are positioned correctly. You won't have much room for manoeuvre using the keyhole method and coolant leakage into the 'V' will eventually result if this isn't done.

The correct positioning is that both clips are pushed fully outwards; one abutting the water pump inlet face and the other touching the new thermostat housing. The jaws must then be squeezed so that these clips remain in position. Plumber's water pump pliers are ideal for this.

Job done sort of. Had it all back together and running revs back to normal and temperature gauge working again, but then found a coolant in the valley Second time was much easier, will test again in the morning.
